Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

CHSP is a government-funded program that offers affordable, entry-level support for older Australians.

  • Eligibility: 65+ (or 50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people)
  • Assessment: Through My Aged Care
  • Fees: Government covers most of the cost; you pay a small contribution (VMCH CHSP fees start at $7.00).

Support at Home
The Support at Home (SAH) program is a new, government-funded way of delivering aged care at home.
It combines the Home Care Packages program and Short-Term Restorative Care into one simplified system, making it easier to access the right services.

How it works:

  • You’ll have one assessment to determine your care classification
  • Services will be grouped into clinical care, independence, and everyday living
  • You may pay a co-contribution based on your income.

VMCH will support you through the transition and help you get the most from your funding.

  • Eligibility: Older people recovering from illness, slowing down physically or mentally, or needing help with daily tasks

  • Assessment: Through My Aged Care

  • Fees: Many care services are government-funded, though you may be asked to contribute depending on your individual care needs.
